About-Shantiqua

"Success is not in never failing, but in rising up everytime we fail"

                                          - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Born on March 2, 1985, Shantiqua Stuart was raised in Riverside, California, in a close knit family of five, including her parents and two siblings. Whether  playing basketball or earning an “A” grade in a course, Shantiqua Stuart has always strived to be the best in everything she does. As an active individual, she enjoys networking and interacting with different individuals. These qualities of extroversion are what attracted Shantiqua Stuart to the broadcasting industry. She explained that as a young girl, she longed to be a news anchor and tell stories.

“For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a news reporter, and ultimately become a news anchor…It’s funny because my parents often joked about me being curious and loquacious…investigating and talking up a storm is my forte,” says Shantiqua Stuart.

Shantiqua Stuart graduated cum laude honors earning her Bachelors Degree at the California State University of Long Beach in spring 2007. As an undergraduate, she majored in Interpersonal and Organization Communication Studies with an emphasis on Journalism. So impressed with the university’s administration and pleased with the location of the vicinity, Shantiqua Stuart continued her education at Long Beach State. In fall 2007, she was accepted to the Long Beach State’s Communication Studies Graduate Program where she conducted a research study and composed a journal article, along with four cohorts, “PERCEIVED EFFECTIVENESS OF MALE AND FEMALE POLITICIANS' USE OF HUMOR,” which is currently under review for publication. Much of her graduate work emphasized journalism broadcast, whether it was presenting topics from the perspective of journalists, portraying an news reporter or anchor during class presentations, or investigating topics, such as how television news media impact society. Nevertheless, Shantiqua Stuart has continued to excel in her studies, which earned her a Master’s Degree in spring 2009 at the age of 24.

It is certain that her passion for journalism consist of telling stories and reporting different issues. Shantiqua Stuart has demonstrated time and time again throughout her experiences that she is an assertive, enthusiastic, motivated, dedicated, determined, and achievement oriented journalist.

“My experience with journalism began in high school. I was a part of the Ramona High School journalism team for our school’s newspaper, Rampage. As the sports editor and manager of copy layout, I designed our pages and edited all of our sports articles. During my senior year in college, I interned with Blackvoice News, where I was a freelance writer for the publishing company’s newspaper. Afterwards, I began interning at NBC Universal during my first year in graduate school. There, I was a part of NBC’s investigative unit under Frank Snepp where I conducted research and interviews. In addition, I was given the opportunity to do field work with news reporter and anchor Beverly White. Through my various occupations and internships, I have gained leadership skills and learned the importance of being a part of organizations that embrace teamwork,” says Shantiqua Stuart.
